  1. Chateau La Gurgue 2007, Margaux CBS. Decanter 16 Points. Drink 2010 to2015. After manual harvest, winemaking is conducted in stainless steel tanks with 15 days maceration. The 12-month aging is conducted in oak barrels (25% new). The wine is elegant and complex, very Margaux(cru level of nose, sturdy, power, inky nose). The bouquet is fruity. In the mouth, it is rather round and exudes harmony with well integrated tannins. Shorter, but very nice drinking. Prestigeous chateaux including First Growth Margaux and Five Growth Desmirail next doors.

  2. Cuvee Harmas, Cotes du Rhone 2011. Picking in twenty years above year-old vine, and the palate is powerful fruit flavors, intense aromas of vanilla and black fruit flavours winding of the tongue, long not scattered. 60% Grenache 20% Syrah, 10% Carignan de + 30 year old 10% Mourvèdre, 13.5% ABV. Dark nose and dark fruited palate. Peppery.

  3. Chateau Kingenfus Gewurztraminer 2011, Alsace. Off-dry style with longan and Lychee nose. Not showy, but solid and charming. Rose petal makes this wine classical correct which should go well with any aromatic Asian dishes. Excellent food wine. Northern Alsace, windy flat area.

  4. Chateau Kingenfus Riesling 2011, Alsace. Bone dry style, with tantalizing citrus and pomelo fruit. High minerality and edging acidity make it excellent food wine. Northern Alsace, windy flat area.

  1. Grange des Papes, Costieres de Nimes Languedoc Rousillon 2011, Southern France. Classic GSM. Deep ruby ​​red, marked by red fruits (raspberry, blackberry and blackcurrant), truffle and spices. Dark peppery fruit with linear acidity, long finish, smooth and silky for the standard.

  2. La Croix Baraillet 2008 Margaux AOC, the special cuvee of Chateau Desmirail 4th Growth Margaux, gives slightly more power and structure for the class. Nose is similar to the first wine Chateau Desmirail; but this needs more air to level out the apparent high alcohol level. Inky dark and bright red fruit, as well as a rich, plummy palate with silky finish should be the reward of that patience well spent. DD90.

  3. Chateau Teynac 2004 St Julien. Dry plum fruit and sweet spices with some graphite, truffle and earth notes giving a savoury edge. Rim variance shows ageing, but its refined style nonetheless makes for very fine claret rare to own now. Why not try out elements the ‘British’ taste, if you are getting weary by the fruit bombs? Arsenics? No worries and no headache. DD89.

  4. Château Bellevue Oaked Cuvee 2009, Monbazillac. Aged in mostly new oak barrels (90% French oak and 10% American oak; super value!!), Semillon based with a pinch of Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc complete the taste with simple ripe tropical fruit(pineapple, banana) apricots and citruses. Best with simple and fresh fruits, lighter cheese, celery and mixed nuts. Château Bellevue is located on 84 hectares (208 acres) of vineyard and produces a range of Bordeaux whites and reds. The château is located on a large hill, overlooking the vineyards, and is locally nicknamed the "Tuscany of Bordeaux". DD 86.

  5. Chateau Pingoy 2012, Graves White. Balanced mixed of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Simple green fruit with a ripeness and classic minerality ideal as a good lunch or food wine, or as an uncomplicated started or aperitif. What more can you expect?
