Monte Da Ravasqueira Alentejano Vinha Das Romas 2013

Intense, concentrated. Tones of violets; ripe red and black fruit full of freshnes; well integrated and harmonious notes coming from the stages in barrels, fine spice, some vanilla; refreshing balsamic. And some good tasters, including Sarah Admead, said it has great tones of pomegranate.

Overall, the wine has the classic woodiness of Portugal red, freshness of Aletenjo, and taste profiles (dark fruit, soil, mineral spices, eucalyptus characters, richness) that gives good structure, volume, which travels through the palate and presents us with polished tannins, great balance and gives us great pleasure as it was going down nicely. Please open the wine 30 minutes before and drink with the more open-minded.

Composition is 70 Syrah and 30% Touriga Franca(basically Cabernet Franc). Ageing is 20 month new French oak. Vines nurtured at 270M above, with wide diurnal range (from 15 to 20 degrees), hence the great colour.

Winemaker Pedro Pereira Gonçalves studied with our favourite wine making chiefs from Hardy’s, Kumeu River(!) and Concha y Toro, hence the modernity. He shows in this wine the dimension that has given to all the references of the brand.

DECANTER | 95

The introduction of precision viticulture and the arrival of chief winemaker Pedro Pereira Goncalves in 2012 catapulted this estate near Arraioles in to the first division. The 45ha vineyard's slopes are divided in to 29 blocks, differentiated by the clay-limestone, granite and schist. This wine comes from a parcel named Vinha das Romas after the pomegranite orchard which was replanted to Syrah and Touriga Franca in 2002. It produces particularly ripe, spicy, concentrated wines.

Also it also fetched a WE94.
