2016 EP Château La Fleur de Boüard, Lalande de Pomerol


Roses; fresh, red cherries; espresso coffee, licorice and sweet spices. Polished tannins, silky, lush, textures recalling quality Pomerol wines. Juicy dark plums and dark cherries; chocolaty finish.

Made from 100% Merlot and reaching 14.8% alcohol, the wine is aging in 100% new French oak!

This wine gives modern drink. And we have some points for buy this wine:

  1. First vintage starts 1998 so it has quite some years behind

  2. Making benefitted by the teams from Chateau Angelus, Chateau Bellevue and Chateau de Francs owned by Hubert de Bouard

  3. Stylistically Pomerol

  4. 2016 is one of the best vintage of this wine, so feel safe.

  5. Expensively made: pre-fermentation, cold maceration at 10 degrees Celsius and a 3-4 week maceration in stainless steel tanks; then Malolactic fermentation in 75% to 80% new oak barrels(!); aged in vat to help integrate the wood(another process!)

  6. 75% to 80% new, French oak barrels for between 18-24 months (long!)
