Chateau Cantenac Brown 2000, Margaux Third Growth

Allow it some minutes in the glass, Cantenac Brown 2000 is to reveal nose of cassis, plums with meaty and earthy tones. Fruit is ripe and long on the palate. Medium bodied, this wine is a dense and concentrated, with firm and polished, ripe tannins. Still, vintage 2000 is suppressed by the cedar and leather tone. Some 325 tasters on 2000 Cantenac Brown rate it 4.3 out of 5. Pretty well-liked.

Château Cantenac Brown's vineyard is one of the best located in the commune of Cantenac in clay-limestone soil with fine gravel. Its wines are renown for their powerful bouquet, and their elegance and finesse, and this vintage 2000 shows this particular character.

Purchased from Axa Millésimes by Simon Halabi, a British businessman of Syrian origin, Château Cantenac Brown produces a high-quality wine that continues to improve. This fact is supported by our consistent tasting of the wine in the verticals with leading wine scoieties in Hong Kong, and in our recent tasting of it's 2006, 2007, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and the 2016 En Primeur.

Comments and scores are very consistent.

92 points Wine Spectator Fascinating aromas of chocolate, meat and ripe berry follow through to a full-bodied palate, with velvety tannins and a long, delicious finish. A beauty here. Best wine ever from this property. Best after 2010. (JS) (3/2003)
