CHÂTEAU TOUR DE MIRAMBEAU BORDEAUX CUVÉE PASSION 2012, Red

Medium ruby with a tight, pink rim. Ripe fruit with hints of leather and undergrowth in the first nose. On the palate, it drinks beautifully for its dark, robust mid taste a la Old-world Style. Not that easy as wine per se but feels fleshy, nice and smooth with secondary tones developing. Medium bodied, resolved tannins, long finish. Still Some years to go.

Some complexities are inherent with the trio of Merlot 82%, Cabernet Sauvignon 10% Cabernet Franc 8% for this Cuvee Passion. Alcohol is 13,5 % balance well with fruit, juice, tannins and acidity. Vines are of 30 years old; density is ok with 5000 vines/ha; soil more with limestone hence the length. A selective picking in the grapes practises for this Cuvee Passion. A long fermentation is in for temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats. Malolactic fermentation in used French oak barrels. Ageing for 12 months in barrel and then an extra six months in the tank, hence the fruit and the no fewer complexities. r

Precise and environmentally-friendly agricultural practices(ISOs certified; 9002 in 1997 and 14001 2004), soil work, grassing, green harvest, de-budding, manual thinning of the leaves practices, pointing to the making of a riper and pure palate.

Dirt cheap and good.
