Alois Lageder Pinot Bianco 2016, Alto Adige

Bright, light straw colour with green tints. A full spectrum of the nose from apple, ripe pear, pineapple, peach, coconut carry over to the citrusy finish with a subtle texture. High fruit quality.

Crisp acidity with softness lifts the lingering fruit, which comes from selected vineyard sites in the southern part of the Alto Adige appellation (Salerno, Magrè, Cortaccia and Pochi), at 300-500 m (980 - 1,650 feet). Soils are sandy, gravelly and with a high content of limestone. Considerable temperature variation occurs between day and night.

Grapes are gently crushed, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks followed by maturation for approximately four months on the lees, hence the texture.

An excellent Summer drink. Scores are high for the class; for example, JS91 and WE91.
