Comparing Tarima Hill 2014 and 2015

Some of the most popular wines with repeated orders, both 2014 and 2015 give dark ruby colour with a violet highlight. Both are young and new, grippy on the palate, not overpowering though. They have a suitable structure(good acidities, soft and firm tannins; alcohol of 15%), and are dense and intense like a Monastrell(Mourvedre and Mataro) should, yet remains remarkably fresh, easy to drink and not too oaky at all. Both of medium body. Dry finish.

The differences are 2014 is more floral(fresh violets, roses, cloves) on the first nose, which is red fruit-driven(cherries, raspberries, red berries)to start and turns to dark fruit at a later stage. 2015 gives big and deep dark plum, dark cherries and dried cherries, tobacco spice and smokey cedar.

Not sorry for a low cost, it is a capable wine with some intensity and concentration. A good food Wine, not for big steak but more for smaller bite-size red meat.

Tarima Hill is one of the top value wineries in all of Spain, working from generic appellations such as La Mancha to Jumilla and Alicante. They produce a fantastic amount of inexpensive, high-quality wine that sells for a song.

Fruit is estate-grown, ungrafted, organic, dry-farmed vines which. The First vine appeared in 1935. They are planted and harvested manually. It uses indigenous yeast, so the taste is full and has been aged for 14 months in primarily new French oak before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.

93 points Jeb Dunnuck From old vines and aged 14-16 months in French oak, the 2015 Tarima Hill sports an inky colour as well as a smoking bouquet of black raspberries, blueberries, pepper, and dried flowers. It's broad, expansive, and sweetly fruited, with a great mid-palate and sweet tannin. It's a sexy fruit bomb done with class!

92 points Wine Spectator This red shows grace and depth. Black cherry, plum, mineral and smoke flavors mingle harmoniously over well-integrated tannins, while lively acidity keeps this focused. Not showy, but all the pieces fit together. Balanced, in the modern style. Monastrell. Drink now through 2025. *Smart Buys* (TM) (12/2017)
