Château Prieurs de la Commanderie 1997, Pomerol

This not-so-glamourous vintage gives the style of its own. Medium ruby with a medium rim, this dry fruited(red berries) claret gives a lightish, round, creamy, mineral, and slightly earthy palate. The soft tannin makes it easy to drink. There is some fruit sweet in the finish, balanced by the relatively low acidity and little structure. It will be charming to some. And, in Vivino, it has a high rating of 4.4 out of 5.

This is a bottle for those who treasure rare tones in aged Pomerols. With 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc and 18 months barrel ageing, this wine can be found in some recent auctions.
