Chateau Breauregard 1997, Pomerol
Medium rubied, with a touch of Burgundian tones. On the nose, dark fruited, leathery, liquorice with note of autumn leaves-quite pleasant. On the palate, red fruited with scents of tobacco, toasted vanilla, mocha, wood spices, which are supported by melted tannins from Cabernet Franc-complex for the class and vintage. The wine is a very well balanced wine with different layers in it's still structured. The finish is warm(from the generous Merlot), harmonious, tasty with elegant tannins. An enjoyable drink, good value.
Beau means 'good'; regard 'to keeping'. Beauregard only produced less than 5,000 cases a year. A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. It is to the insider known as a 'daily' or Poor Man's Petrus. Yes, this is from a lesser 1997 vintage, and that's why we recognise good winemakers.
Located south of the Pomerol Plateau, the Château Beauregard vineyard has excellent potential. A complete restructuring of the vineyard and the technical installations allowed to produce a wine of excellent quality.
