2009 Tenuta di Ghizzano Veneroso Magnum

Only 2,000 bottles are in production from Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Scores are impressive: AG93. 2009 is a warm year with inconsistent ripening; the best reds offer immediate fruit and flesh, others show underripe tannins.

Galloni writes:

“The 2009 Tenuta di Ghizzano Veneroso(sic) is striking in this vintage. Dark cherries, plums, grilled herbs, dried flowers, sage and underbrush meld together in a powerful, broad-shouldered wine endowed with gorgeous balance and symmetry. Cabernet Sauvignon gives the bright Sangiovese-inflected aromas and flavors an extra kick of structure. Veneroso is 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.” – Antonio Galloni

Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024
