Gibson BarossaVale Shiraz 2005

The 2005 Shiraz included 9% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged for 24 months in 70% new French and American oak; hence, it raises in the classic premium Barossa style, with oaks well integrated. Purple coloured with a tight rim; the nose exhibits notes of pain grille, spice box, scorched earth, mineral, and blueberry. On the palate, it reveals a bright, elegant personality, a smooth-texture, spicy fruit, good depth, and a long finish. It will drink well over the next eight years. Ah definitely saved the best to last. Nice & smooth with subtle dark fruit which is not overpowering. Vintage 2005 manifests well with this bottle of wine. Not tired at all.

Gibson expends the majority of his time and effort in the vineyard, leaving the winemaking to fall into place, making this wine a reflection of the superb fruit quality. Open fermentation with daily plunging used, hence still quite soft.
