La Cuvée Du Papet 2000
94 Points, Jeb Dunnuck "While starting to evolve on the nose and showing a smidge of maturity, the 2000 Clos du Mont-Olivet Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Cuvée du Papet is still beautifully dense and youthful on the palate, delivering classic aromas and flavors of meat juice, iron, garrigue, and tobacco. Medium to full bodied and very focused and dense texturally, the wine shows a solid core of fruit that needs another 3-5 years to truly flesh out. As is common with this cuvee, it’s a classic, very age-worthy Châteauneuf.

94 Points, Wine Spectator "Packed and tight, with sage, licorice root, black currant, plum and tobacco aromas and flavors supported by pronounced ferrous and hot stone notes. Yet despite its power it has remarkably lush tannins running through the lengthy finish. This has a great expression of terroir. 705 cases made."

93 Points, Jeb Dunnuck / Wine Advocate "More dense and concentrated, the superb 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Du Papet checks in as a blend of 80% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah and Mourvedre. Fermented with close to 70% whole clusters and aged in both concrete and foudres, it exhibits classic black fruits, roasted herbs, black licorice, olive and garrigue to go with full-bodied richness and depth on the palate. Beautifully textured, with solid mid-palate depth, it’s a classic Chateauneuf that will continue to drink nicely for another decade." "Made by Thierry Sabon, who started having more and more control since 2001, Clos du Mont-Olivet made classic, age-worthy wines in 2004. While their traditional cuvee is solid, their top cuvee, the Cuvee du Papet, is one of the top wines in the vintage (and I was lucky enough to get to taste – and drink – through multiple bottles for this report)."
