Finísimo Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Another Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon? There are so many things to talk about it, other than its high cost-performance though. Thus, the dash of Malbec adds to the ripeness and structure of the Cabernet Sauvignon. There is a little more to offer above its classic cabernet character- the palate is more opulent palate, which gives is even more savoury for the class. There are also nuances of cassis, black plum, violets and cigar box — a distinctive coffee-espresso finish with some baking spice.

It is a Gran Reserva from Colchaqua. Oak quality is good enough for the class. The lifted acidity is rounded off from the oak, giving forth a reasonable long palate. At 14% ABV, it is bodied, yet extraction is still delicate, leading to a full-bodied and smooth taste, with polished tannins. It will cellar well for another 3 or 4 years.

It is a Concha y Toro wine; the making is pretty good for commercial wine. In a tasting of 40 wines on a Monday morning, this wine is one of the five wines which distinguish themselves from the crowd.
