German Villa Maria Spatlese 2017
Riesling is without question Germany's favourite grape. Widely planted, though once derided, Riesling is the superstar of the white wine world at the moment. There is a lot of scope for versatility with this off-dry, German Villa Maria Riesling Spatlese 2017 which is citrus-based with hints of tropical fruit, tangerines, melon and pineapple.
Perhaps there is nothing serious about this little, generic white. IT is nonetheless pure on the palate, crisp, refreshingly straightforward, and gives tones of minerality after a round or two. Light-bodied. DD86.
