Our first encounters with Chateau Haut Hergey started with its light pre-2004 vintages, which are mostly ripe, of modern style with no loss of elegance. With vivid and fond memories of all of them, Team thinks this 2004 has got to be good and each member is not disappointed.
Classically rendered a la style Pessac Leogna, this 2004 Haut Bergey is not over-done at all with wood treatment and mineralities.The fruit nose(sorry, bouquet) is charming. Palate reflects the nose: sweet oak, smoky, dark cherry note, with hint of pomelo, classy coffee and whip cream . This 2004 Haut Bergey also has that mineral nose that follows to the palate. Quite nice acidities(citrus and pomelo skins as well).
Drink with friends. Pour straight to glass. Allow it to evolve. Accompany with steaks.The wine, nonethless, has relatively a smaller time window for drinking.
This wine is of extreme value, especially when it was priced well between 2 more expensive 2003 and 2005 vintages.

A top-notch effort from proprietress Helene Garcin, Haut-Bergey’s 2004 exhibits an evolved, cedary, smoky, tobacco, and sweet cherry-scented bouquet offered in a medium-bodied, supple-textured style. (6/2007)
Very ripe, modern style. Pronounced colour. Creamy, cassis cordiale and spice fragrance. Rich, chunky fruit with a firm tannic structure. (4/2005)

Red-ruby. Sexy, rather wild aromas of roasted raspberry and game. Supple but firm-edged, with good grip to the raspberry and mineral flavors. There's good fruit here but limited fat and a restrained sweetness. (6/2007)
