From the “LATOUR Family”, starting with SIAURAC is really an estate to look at. After LATOUR bought back most of the shares and invested in the cellars & in the vineyards, the quality is moving upward every year and the prices remain very reasonable. One Lalande de Pomerol – co-owned and managed by Chateau LATOUR-CHATEAU SIAURAC 2015 is good as a daily wine. Price is Really good. The palate is fine and scores really not bad, including JS 90-91, WS 88-91, WA 90-92.
Also co-owned and managed by Chateau LATOUR is CH. LE PRIEURE 2015. Pricing approaching that of good second wine and really some lesser Crus. Palate is intense and is well-made. Excellent scores from GALLONI 91-94, though it is not sure for WS 89-92. This wine is pretty cool for RP et al as it is awarded WA 90-92.
The 3rd one Co-owned and managed by Chateau LATOUR is another Pomerol- CH. VRAI CROIX DE GAY 2015, priced almost at investment grade level. Really we particularly fond of this wine for potential and intensity. Very high scores, such as GALLONI 93-96, WS 89-92, JS 93-94, WA 89-91.
One reasonably priced Grand Cru Classé fom Alain MOUEIX is the BIO/ORGANIC Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classé CH. FONROQUE 2015. Teams’ long time favourite for intensity and longevityPrice at good second wines from Left Bank level. Scores are pretty decent, JS 93-94, WS 88-91, WA 91-93.
Priced at 20% high than Chateau Fonroque 2015 is Château ROL VALENTIN 2015 , one humbler St-Emilion GC, 90-92 Wine Advocate , 93-94 J.Suckling , 17 R.Gabriel , 89-92 Wine Spectator. This belongs to the new breed of garagiste wines that have emerged in St-Emilion in the last 10 years. These wines are made in minuscule quantities and are usually very deeply coloured, intensely concentrated, and packed with superripe fruit with strong hints of new wood. Merlot based with a dash of CF and CS. The new thing is Rol Valentin's grapes are hand harvested and are then fermented in temperature-controlled, wooden tanks. The wine is then aged in 100% new oak barrels for 18 months before being lightly fined (but not filtered) and then bottled. Surprisingly seamless by now.
There are are 2 wines from the Left bank we like as a daily quaffing wine.
Château LANGOA BARTON 2015 (St Julien) is cheap this year. Recommended as a daily wine, who score is not bad like Decanter 92 and WA 88-90.
Château HAUT-MARBUZET 2015( St Estephe), no score as far as we know.
