Deep ruby, tight rim. On the nose, a bouquet of creme de cassis, candied blackberries, black olives, mocha and tones of musk. The palate reflects the nose, with tones of liquorice and mint combined with subtle integrated oak and a persistent finish. Quite some complexities surfaced if you allow it some minutes in glass or decanter. But whether you want that new direction back to 'terroir' with a sombre nose(bitter almonds, muddy dark chocolate, earth, herbs) coupled with a light taste profile('elegance', a euphemism maybe)is a personal preference.
Aged in American barriques for 18 months, this is medium bodied, rich in the first instance, with fruit drove till the end. The climate is temperate with coolness(40 km south of Adelaide; a bit rain at times). As always, there is an elegance to it.
