Oliver's Taranga Shiraz 2002

Glossy deep ruby, clear tight garnet rim. Medium nose of blackberry, black cherry, ripe blackcurrant with savoury, earthy notes.  Dry fruited palate with reasonably good weight and finishes white peppery, liquorice, minty, cedary and leathery. Well-integrated oak; powdery tannin; fully developed; passed its best but still good and elegant. Quite a rare botte of wine.

Also, this bottle of Oliver's Taranga Shiraz 2002 is a museum release from an exceptional vintage 2002. The ABV is 14.5%.

Waterfront concurs that this bottle of wine is classically 'McLaren' Shiraz. James Halliday says the winery has 170 years of grape growing experience; hence the wine reflects the soil of Taranga.

A reasoanbly high scores, such as:

ROBERT PARKER 93 POINTS. "The opaque ruby-colored 2002 Shiraz exhibits terrific fruit intensity, voluminous, beautifully textured, full-throttled flavors, low acidity, and tremendous purity as well as intensity with the oak component kept well in the background. It should drink well for 7-10 years."
