Pale yellow with green taints. On the nose, it has freshness typical of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc while exhibiting ripe, tropical fruit flavours. The Moana Park ‘Estate’ Hawke’s Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2015 finishes medium and mineral. Simple and easy to drink, it indeed is an alternative, natural style of Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc. Despite 3 years of bottle ageing, the wine remains quite fruit-drive.
The aim of winemaker Dan Barker of Moana Park in Hawke’s Bay is to make "naturally grown wines free of allergy-inducing additives” which are a "pure joy to drink” from "small estate owned vineyard-dotted…around Hawke’s Bay”. Coming from a vacuum press which eliminates oxygen and the need for a preservative, this 2015 ‘Estate ‘ Sauvignon Blanc which is a result of the Barkers’ philosophies. The New Zealand wine commentator Raymond Chan highly regards this hands-off approach meaning superb tasting wine based on the nuances of the varieties rather than chemicals and additives.
Too many to list, Moana Park has won more than 500 top accolades for their wines in the last decade at the Decanter World Wine Awards in 2010 and 2011.
