Jiménez-Landi Bajondillo D.O. Méntrida 2017

‘Pinot-like’ colour. On the nose, ripe strawberries and red/blue berries/ cranberries tumble out, with a characteristic note of white pepper, wet stones, light toast and even a hint of green bell pepper, reflective of the grapes Granacha and Cabernet. On the palate, fresh with light but firm tannins and a lovely, sweet-fruited; yet with a delightful wet-stone/savorouy/peppery sensation on the finish. Elegant for the class.

There’s a robustness to the fruit but subtlety too. Fruit very much on the red spectrum with dusty raspberry and cranberry fruit and a riper note of cherry underneath.

An hour in the fridge before opening would do this the world of good. No need for decanting: leave in a bigger glass to dispell the high-tone and alcohol. At 14%, it is not dangerous at all.

Some 85% Garnacha, 10% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon used. Fermentation is done in stainless steel and aged for six months in neutral French oak before bottling. The grapes are from La Dehesa vineyard(whose maker won on her efforts a Pago )which I also and choose to present them in the region. Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon prefers warm climate. So, this little wine for me reflects my stubborn attitude and stance for elegant fruit throughout my career, even though I have been compromising a Lot for apparent reasons.
