Chateau Miaille Boutet 1999 and Chateau Godeau 1997

Chateau Miaille Boutet, designated Grand Cru of St. Emilion, is made from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. It is a special cuvee from Chateau Vieux Poirret. This property has two vineyards, which situate next to 2 famous Grand Cru Classe vineyards: 3 hectares next to St Emilion city center (in front of Chateau Franc Mayne) and 2 hectares next to Chateau Tertre Roteboeuf. The limestone and clay based vineyards of Chateau Miaille Boute lies within the Southeast quarter of St. Emilion. On average, the vines are 40 years of age. Vinification takes place in traditional cement vats. The wine has been raised in mixed new and aged French oak for 18 to 24 months. The consultant of the wine Michel Tardieu, who considered himself as the “companion” of the plant, uses his own natural products to strengthen it and enable it to draw out the best of the Saint Emilion terroir. This is the only Grand Cru in St Emilion certified Biodynamic. The wine is a very traditional St. Emilion. Vintage 1999, with great plum and blackberry flavors, as well as classic dusty, chalk tannins, was built to last. From a recent tasting, vintage 1999 gave an interesting nose featuring dried red and black black cherry, chocolate with a nice whiff of tobacco. Fading fruit.

Chateau Godeau is located on the eastern corner of St. Emilion. With 5.5 hectares located on the celebrated limestone plateau in one of the region’s most desirable districts, it is made from 95 Merlot and 5% Caberbet Franc and will soon to become one of this region's premiere wine. This wine is assembled with 90% merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The famous neighbors of Chateau Godeau include some of the most prestigous brands, Tertre Roteboeuf, TropLong Mondot, La Mondotte, and Rochebelle. Recent ratings include a 93-96 Wine Spectator for our 2009 vintages and both 2007 and 2008 received a star from Guide Hachette. Most the recent vintages are characterized by strong, licorice and dark cherries nose, and is usually full bodied, with super silky tannins and a long, long finish. Vinage 1997 is fully matured and gave rancio and dried, red-fruit nose with lots of character. Fading fruit.
