Summer Sale 2014, Tasting Notes

  1. Monbazillac, Ch Bellevue Sweet, 2009 is friendly and fruity(pineapply and and honey) a la style Bordeaux sweet wines with bright gold colour. Clean and smart tasting. DD85.

  2. St Emilion Grand Cru, Ch Godeau, 1999 is characterized by strong, licorice and dark cherries nose. Medium bodied, with super silky tannins and a long, long finish. By now it is fully matured and gave rancio and dried, red-fruit nose with lots of character. In orginal wood case. If you Look for 'old' nose, that is the one. DD86.

  3. Medoc C Bourgeois, Ch La Chandelliere, 2007 gives solid mixed red and black fruit. Sea weedy with strong mineral finish. Lifted acidity compromosed all Continental dished and will drink on and on. DD87.

  4. Pomerol, Ch Logis du Roy, 2002 is simple and lush, giving lots of red and dark fruit a la style modern Pomerol. No hassle and is friendly with mid-palate intensity. A pomerol bettert than Logis du Roy 2012 at this price, no way! DD87.

  5. Pauillac, Enclos de Grassac, 2006 is one Classic Pauillac-full bodied with intense blackcurrant fruit. With strong dark chocolate finish, this little gem situates next to the cru vineyards, reflecting lots of Cru type of characters. Need 30 minutes in glass. DD90.

  6. Margaux, La Croix Baraillet, 2008 is A special cuvee of Chateau Desmirail, giving more power and structure. On plate it is bodied, plummy with a silky finish. DD90.

  7. Pessac Leognan, Ch D'Eyran, 1999 need 15 minutes to show the true colours, that of smoky and minerality with lurking sweet fruit. A classic from Pessac Leognan. DD85.

  8. Bergerac Red, Ch Les Merles Oak, 2009 is a powerful red at this level. It is must intense on palate showing lots og dark merlot fruit. Acidicty well balances the alcohol, making this wine one of the true alternative to Bordeaux AOCs. DD86.

  9. Bergerac Rose , Ch Bellevue Rose, 2011 gives vivid strawberry and cheery notes with a simple and pleasure sweetish finish. Fine acidity and easy to drink. DD86.

  10. Saint Julien, Ch Teynac, 2004 is a fully developed St. Julien at CB level, showing intermingled primary, a secondary and tertiary fruits. Meaty on tones, spicy on finish. Firm tannins with structure. DD89.

  11. Alsace Ch Klingenfus, Gewerztraminer, 2011 gives 'longan' nose more than the lychee and petal tones. It is refreshing and put a solid edge to the palate to make it a refreshing crowd pleaser for half dry and medium wines. MIneral finish. DD88.

  12. Alsace Ch Klingenfus , Riesling, 2011 gives lean and smart citrus nose with a linear stucture. It is the 'choice' to complement seafood Hong Kong style. This Alsace Riesling from Northern commune of Bar is always so smart-go away and dont come close to me- you clumsy and fat Rieslings. DD90

  13. Sauternes, Ch. Charrier, 2009. Ripe, tropical fruited, egg-custard, cream and vanilla- reflecting lots of good Sauternescharacterics. DD88.

  14. German Schlink , Spatlese, 2012. Simple wine, but was refreshingly ripe with nice acidities. Summer drinks-that's the one. DD84.

  15. Champagne, Senez Brut, NV is explosively bubbly with lots of mixed, ripe red and white fruit. Sustaining and fine bubbles. At this price, you cant beat this one Pinot based. DD90.

  16. Haut Medoc C Bourgeois, Ch Fontesteau, 2005. Situated between Cissac and Beychevelle, this little classic Haut Medoc reflects the terroir and gives a nice-drinking wine which is dark fruited, well structured with vevelty texture. DD90.
