Chateau Marojallia 2004, Margaux
Chateau Marojallia is an evolving estate; the quality of their wine has silenced doubters of their pioneering winemaking techniques(the unorthodox and "garagiste" methods, with Michel Rolland as consultant) . Composed of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Merlot, the Chateau Marojallia 2004 is medium-full bodied with smooth tannin that holds on the long finish. It has expressive aromas of flower, liquorice and sweet berries. A rare wine with only 500 cases produced annually.
I tasted its second wine Clos Margalaine vintage 2007 in a blind tastng 3 month ago, pitted against a camp of 3rd, 4th and 5th Growth Margaux. It really silenced the traditional tasters up. Quite a nice beat-up.

Good medium ruby. Pure aromas of blackberry, violet and bitter chocolate. Sweet, pliant and fleshy, with a fairly high pH feel for a Medoc wine from this vintage. But the black fruit flavors are nonetheless juicy. Finishes with rich tannins that dust the entire palate. Contrary to popular belief, owner Philippe Forgeron has made this wine since 2001; Muriel Thunevin was responsible for the 1999 and 2000 vintages. (6/2005)

Aromas of currant and blackberry, with hints of mineral. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and a long, long finish. A powerful wine with lots of character. Needs age to mellow the tannins. Best after 2012. (3/2007)

This beautiful Margaux offers expressive notes of spring flowers, licorice, incense, and sweet blackberries and currants. Supple-textured with a savory, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, silky tannin, and beautiful purity, it is a lovely effort that should drink well young yet keep for 12-15 years. (6/2007)
