The 12 Bordeaux reds tasted by the 5 blind men Tasting Team Quatjin K last Saturday were:
Ch. Tour Bigorre 2009, Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, gives dry long-an and plum fruit not imaginable in simple Bordeaux.
Ch. Saint Clair New Sublett Vineyard 2014, Montagne St Emilion, has big portion of neurtral fruit base. Very fresh and ripe, with classic Montage minerality.
Ch Laroze Trintaudon 1997, Haut Médoc Cru Bourgeois, provides lots of nuances and concentration. Lightish apparently because of vintage nature. With lifted acidity, it is a very good wine with bit of structure(tannins, alcohol) and complexities unimaginable with new wines.
Ch. Treille L'Embarré , Lalande de Pomerol 2000. Ripe. Lots of minerality and nuances. Ligtish and easy on palate.
Ch Clement Pichon 1997, Haut Médoc Cru Bourgeois. Dry blackcurrant and plum fruit. Structured wine. Excellent food wine, especially with the Continental type.
Ch. Crabitey Cuvée Spéciale 2000, Graves Red. You will like this wine. Round wine. Still with a lot of fruit(mixed, fresh, dry, dry and ripe) and other nuances. Very structured(tannins, acidity and nice alcohol). All agree that this is the wine to decant and breath for better result.
Ch. Arnauld 1995 , Haut Médoc Cru Bourgeois. Classic showcase of 20 –year old wine. Lots of structure. Follow us on the treatment of the old wines.
Ch Ludon Pomies Agassac 1995, Haut Médoc 2nd La Lagune. Lots of nuances. Another classic example to follow on treatment of old wines for better results. Stuctured. Some intensity and complexities on nose.
Ch. Prieurs de la Commanderie 1996 , Pomerol. Elegant wine. Lush, lightish, easy to drink. Classic; ‘claretic’.
Ch La Cabanne 1999, Pomerol. Toasty. Intense. Bouquet of cherry and plums. Some power and strength. Decanting may require.
Ch Larmande 2000 , St Emilion Gd Cru Classé. Oaky, still with lots of fruit. Not as structured as most GCC, but it is ripe, heady and round textured. Quite rich finish for the vintage. Decanting may require.
Ch La Dominique 1997 , St Emilion Gd Cru Classé. Still big, with some complexitites. Not polished, which could be considered a strength by now given the ageing. Decanting may require.
