2016 Miraval Rose, Provence

The 2016 Miraval Rose looks sexy in the palest of salmon-pinks with shiny reflections. This crisp and precise 2016, like the 2015, has a lovely mineral freshness with delicate aromas of citrus, red and orange fruits(red currants, strawberries cherries, raspberries, tangerines) and white flowers. Understandably the 2014 Miraval Rose carries lesser fresh fruit by now.

On the palate, the 2016 is by now more integrated than what we tasted 6 months ago. With the pending divorce of the owners(Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie), this 2016 vintage may become a collectors' item. .

The intensity and structure come from the 60 year-old vines. The terroir, the freshness that comes from the altitude(350m above ground) and the excellent ripeness from the Eastern exposure site conditioned by cool Mistral.Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s winemaking partners at Château Miraval have printed labels for the estate’s Provence rose 2015 wine. Rumours went high that Angelina Jolie may wish to sell the property. A couples days back, Apple Daily mentioned Brad Pitt and Angeline Jolie agreed to shelf the divorce.

Team members think that this is one of the best value Rose in the ‘cult’ class. Winemaker Marc Perrin of the famous Chateau Beaucastel helped Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to produce this rosé since 2012, challenging the cult-like status of the Whispering Angel and Domaine Ott.

THis is a DD 91.
