Deep purple; tight, pink rim. Dense blackfruit; complex; balanced; intense; lengthy; still a baby with lots of potential. A must buy, if you enjoy ripe and fresh RIght Bank style. We have been buying and drinking this wine since its 2001 vintage. Scores are not exceptionally high, but are very fair(RP91, JS92).
Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2016 Cap de Faugeres, is a blend of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon matured in 40% one-yearl-oyld barrels. It has a tightly wound bouquet with blackberry, undergrowth and pencil-lead aromaùmore Left Bank than Right Bank in style. The palate is well balanced with firm tannin, good depth and tension with a spicy, almost Graves-like finish that lingers in the mouth. It is a little austere at the moment, but I appreciate the focus and poise.

Château Cap de Faugères is a red wine produced in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. The 46-hectare estate profits from a terroir with a clay-limestone hill. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, which were previously used for one or two wines. The 2016 vintage of Château Cap de Faugères consists of a blend of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
At château Cap de Faugères, the climatic conditions of the 2016 vintage were marked by great complexity. One can first note a strong rainfall between January and May, and then a window of fine weather in the beginning of June, which allowed for a beautiful flowering. A dry and sunny summer followed with pleasant temperatures. In Cap de Faugères, the grape harvest took place between the 3rd and 19th of October.
The Château Cap de Faugères 2016 offers an extremely even wine, marked by superb balance and harmony. On both the nose and palate, the wine is fruity and balanced.
