Chateau Grand Corbin Despagne, St Emilion GCC 2014

Fresh fruit (plums, blueberries), stylish herbal tones (olives, green pepper), big and chiseled tannins, lifted acidity, medium bodied, drinks on and on. Expressing a bit of Pomerol(North Western St Emilion close to Pomerol) lushness at good St Emilion GCC level for the vintage 2014(intensity and density) and grape varietals (70% merlot, 29%cCabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon), as well as bred (18 months 50% new, French oak; stainless steel fermentation).

Great value.

"One of the handful of fragrant wines from St.-Émilion this vintage. The lemony freshness really lights up the berry fruits, and the crisp, dry tannins also give this a lot of vitality. Drink in 2020." -James Suckling, Feb 2017. James Suckling - 93 pts

"The Château Grand Corbin-Despagne 2014 a blend of 75% Merlot and 24% Cabernet Franc with a pinch of Cabernet Sauvignon. It is very closed on the nose at first, but it opens with cassis and blueberry fruit, a touch of glycerine later. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. The acidity is well judged. It clams up tightly on the finish, but there is certainly complexity and class here. This is one of the best wines from this Saint Emilion estate that I have tasted in recent years." - Neal Martin, eRobertParker.com #218, Apr 2015. Reviewed by: The Wine Advocate - 92 pts

Barrel Sample. This wine has big tannins, offering a dense structure and concentration with great acidity. Black plum skins shine through giving some acidity and freshness at the end. Wine Enthusiast 93.
