2016 EP Chasse Spleen White

Aromas of citrus and grapefruit, leading onto apple and pear. With floral notes, bee wax and honey. A fermented-out palate with structure and nice weight and length. A serious Bordeaux white.

A small 2 hectare portion of vines is planted to 65% Semillon and 35% Sauvignon Blanc. This is for the production of a dry, white Bordeaux wine, Blanc de Chasse Spleen. Because white wine grapes are not allowed in the Haut Medoc appellation, Blanc de Chasse Spleen is ‘degraded’ as a generic, AOC Bordeaux Blanc. Malolactic fermentation takes place in vat. This Little white Chasse Spleen is aged in 40% new, French oak barrels for between 12 and 15 months before bottling. So, in terms of value and style, we purchase some. Let's appreciate a statement (an understand-statement) from the great Chateau Chasse Spleen of this very excellent vintage? It's does not . scores yet. And that's great.
