Chateau Haut Batailley 2010 revisit

Dark ruby, tight rim. Broody, dense black fruits on the nose reflect the same on the palate, which has even more fruit power and depth. There is an excellent structure with the ripe tannins, ensuring richness on the finish. It remains St Julien with a smooth(fine tannins) and sophisticated (lemon tones) finish and is poised and silkily intense in the finish. Bodied.

Some tasters may think this 2010 Haut Batailley is still stubborn on the palate. Full decanting for over one hour helps much to appreciate the potential of this underrated Pauillac.

Scores are excellent. JS94, NM94, RP92. Owner Xavier Borie thinks this is the best vintage after 1961. The 2011 composition is 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Merlot, maturing in 55% new oak.
