Chateau Senejec 2012, CBS Haut Medoc

Deep ruby with a tight violet rim, it shows fresh aromas of opulent dark fruit(blackberry and blueberry), hints of charcoal, white chocolate, graphite and spice. Classy nose from a humble Cru Bourgeois Superier, the palate reflects the same and stand this little gem out with intensity while remaining smooth and civilised with its fine tannins. Ageing slowly this wine will find the characteristics of its terroir, as told by our tasting experience with its 2000, 2005 and 2009 vintages.

There is sure complexity from the blend of 4 grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (25%) and Cabernet Franc (15%). Matured in 225-litre barrels(25% new) for 18 months and with vines averaging 35 years of age planted close to the commune of Margaux, it does give certain CB level of intensity too. Medium finish; classic, claret touch. Pretty.

Owned by Cordier(also owners of Talbot), this wine is from the same cracking team at Pontet Canet!

Vintages 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2015 and 2016 see the steady improvements both in quality and score achievements(from RP89 to RP93 through the years). This very fresh 2012 vintage is as good.

WE91Wine Enthusiast This is a solid effort that’s packed with blackberry fruits and dark tannins. The wine has weight and structure that is balanced with the fruitiness.

Barrel Sample: 89-91 Points JS90James Suckling Intense aromas and flavors of black cherries and juicy plums with cedar notes. Full body, soft tannins and a long, silky finish. Firm and juicy.
