2017, Wine Futures, Chateau Cambon le Pelous
Fresh juicy cassis with other dark fruit. Floral, earthy, spicy accents with close tannins. Quite a friendly Impression. Medium bodied; adequate length. Easy to drink with reasonable complexities form the mix of 4 royal grapes.
Despite the relatively low scores, we like this wine because it is of super value yet relatively poor score. Big production of over 15000 cases adequate to ensure proper economies of scale), as this is a nicely priced wine that will drink well early. This 2017 show is a classy Haut Medoc with Margaux-tinged floral tones and classicism (close to 5th Growth Du Tertre)which is not far away from Cantermerle and Giscours. Its new style since 2013 with 48% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot gives adequate power, complexity and intensity(gravelly soil with small rocks and stones). The
Vine density of 6,000 vines per hectare; seven day period of cold soaking; vinification on a parcel by parcel basis; malolactic fermentation in the barrel aged on its lees for six months; maturing in 50% new French oak barrels for an average of 20 months.
Hubert de Bouard of Chateau Angelus consults, and fruit quality will be just exceptional for the class.
