2015 Lascombes, Margaux 2nd Growth

Chateau Lascombes the mighty modern Margaux Cru known for balanced and delicate wines has a beautiful deep ruby colour with a narrow and light pink rim. On the still raw nose nose, this 2015 has violet notes of ripe red fruits and vanilla oak. The highly extracted palate is with spice, sweet vanilla from the toasty oak, then black cherry fruit and a hint of cigar box. Inky, big on the palate with intensity and concentration of fresh ripe fruit.

Tannic, it recalls 2005 I tasted recently in January(Chariot) and April(Yik Sun). The structure is dense, firm and will age nicely for the two decades. Judging from the tastings, it has less potential than 2010 and is undoubtedly more enjoyable in the intermediate terms.

Scores are impressive: WE96, JS95, RP94. Compared to 2010 rating of WE92, JS94, RP96, this 2015 is more natural and as age-worthy.

Wine Enthusiast quotes US$80. Price is stably increasing to US$120 level.
