MOANA PARK Estate Chardonnay 2010

Gold coloured Chardonnay with green tints and a medium rim. The nose restrains but blossoms in volume on second nose to show vibrant and ripe citrus(tangarines), stonefruit(dry apricots, yellow plums) and tropical(pineapple), aromas melded with a layer of yeasty, nutty and mineral detail. Simple on the palate, and despite eight years in bottle, its stonefruit flavours are entwined with a 'kimquat', gingery and mineral suggestions. The mouthfeel, with licoriced back-palate warmth, povides subtle tension and energy. There is an phenolic, textural thread, with some underlying alcohol drive, leading to a sustained, lively finish with fruit spice interest. No bad at all as a summer wine as well as food wine.

The MOANA PARK Chardonnay 2010 bends from grapes grown at Gimblett Road, Te Awanga and in the Dart moor Valley. Too many to list, Moana Park has won more than 500 top accolades for their wines in the last decade at the Decanter World Wine Awards in 2010 and 2011. Moana Park was the most awarded New Zealand Boutique, and the most awarded Hawke's Bay winery at the 2011 Decanter World Wine Awards.
