Château Pape Clément 2014, Rouge

Deep ruby, with dense mahogany hints. Spontaneous first nose of fragrance, fruit(blueberries, cassis, bilberry), flowers(violets), and spices(chocolate and other sweet spices). A ripe and powerful second nose of fruit pastilles, leather, lightly charred wood, and roasted notes.  The intense, international palate recall the complexity and fruit explosion of the nose, which is revealed by its elegance rather than its full-flavour. Long fruit length.

Hence Wilfred Wong of Wine.com is right on when he wrote on this vintage saying it is never a question of how much fruit the Château Pape Clément will show. Also, Decanter describes its attractive aromatic range with a finish of remarkable restraint which reflects the most characteristical beauty of this vintage

Indeed, in recent vintages, all Pape Cléments are rated by international commentators from 99 to 96. If the cost is right and the style is okay for you, buy any vintage!

We have been admiring all vintages of Pape Clement since our first tasting in 1992 amd we hope you share the same. Some 58% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance Petit Verdot, aged in 60% new French oak form the 2014 Pape Clement. It is very modern and complex.

Critical acclaims are plenty for this 2014 vintage. James Suckling(JS96) mentions well 'the potential of even near-term drinking,  advising us to give it two or three years to show what it has but already a beauty.' Jeb Dunnuck(JD95) marvels at 'the silky and incredibly pure on the palate, with impeccable balance and sweet, yet present tannin, it’s already impossible to resist, yet is going to deliver the goods for another 20-25 years. It’s a beauty!'  Robert Parker's Wine Advocate(RP94)compared this refined 2014 'Pape-Clement that demonstrated the most matière or substance out of all the Pessac-Léognan 2014s' .' Decanter(D94) love 'the stylistic expression.'
