La Croix Baraillet 2008 Margaux AOC, the special Cuvee of Chateau Desmirail 4th Growth Margaux, gives slightly more power and structure for the class. Nose is similar to the first wine Chateau Desmirail, but this needs more air to level out the apparent high alcohol, though the actual ABV% is13. Inky dark and bright red fruit, as well as a vibrant, ripe plummy palate leading to a silky, licoriced and spicy finish, should be the reward of that patience well spent.
Arsac and Cantenac style of rusticity and entirely to terroir stylistics. Ten years' ageing mellows and round it up. In our view, it is an excellent value by now for a particular wine from an excellent Margaux year. DD90.
