Are You Game? Pinot Noir 2015 and 2017

Classic medium ruby coloured with a tight rim. 2017 is fresher, sharing an orangy nose of cherry, strawberry fruit, followed by less hints of Zhai duck kidney(齋鴨腎)', roast chicken kidney, dry meat; also elements of earth and aged oak. 2015 is more integrated by now and the mid-palate is strong and savoury, with dried red fruit(strawberries, cherries, fried tomatoes) and fruity finish, soft ripe tannins and wood spice — some good complexities for the class. Both 2017 and 2015 share a medium palate; medium bodied. Excellent with ducks, most games, walnuts, cranberries. . With a dash of Sangiovese(10% on specification), the acidity for 2017 is as lifted as 2015, hence the red fruit length is adequate with licorice finish. This is This wine was fermented in high tech, stainless steel, sweep-arm fermenters between 25˚ to 28˚ C to maximise primary fruit flavours and colour. Mixed new and aged French oak for ageing for 12 months. Cooler style and still another 1 or 2 years to go. ABV is mere13.5%.

Very interesting name with a message from the bottle. Cool Victorian fruit at this price? Just value for money.

Tasting is done in a Lucaris Robust Red Glass.
