Château d'Angludet Margaux 2008
Medium ruby; tight garnet rim. Perfumy and classy 'spa' nose, with the 'rancio' of blackberry, plum fruit, smoke and wood(cigar, leather, lead pencil). There are great charms of a claret, red fruits on the palate, and finishes nicely: medium length, dry finish with balanced fruit and wood on the whole. This bottle, however, could have been even better if this is with more darker fruit, given the right alcohol; tamed, smooth, dense tannins which are slowly evolving discreetly.
Château d'Angludet Margaux 2008 has the structure of a classified growth at a great price(thanks to the scores from Robert Parker et al. and from James Suckling). Some decanting like 30 minutes suggested uncovering the suppressed fruit of this good merlot vintage for this Cru level like Margaux. Neighbouring vineyards are prestigious: Giscours, Brane-Cantenac, Kirwan. On pebbly stones on which no grass growth is possible. One of our first bottle of fine claret 30 years back.
