Château La Bécasse 2008, Pauillac

Characterised by a dark ruby-purple colour, it has an intense bouquet of red fruit and spices. On the palate, 2008 gives flavours of blackcurrant, blackberry, cinnamon, pepper and tobacco; agricultural notes; mild heat from ABV 13.5%; powerful without being aggressive; concentrated without being too complex. Lots of ageing potential, this full-bodied AC Pauillac will outlive most second wine. Very rare.

Located in the same area as Latour, Château La Bécasse produces what is, without doubt, one of Pauillac's most excellent unclassified wines. 2012 is the last vintage of La Bécasse now integrated to Latour since it was bought by the latter. This 2008 is a superb wine at low prices. Don't miss the last bottles of the chateau.

Of modest size, this vineyard divided into several parcels rests on pretty serious soil. La Bécasse is a kind of bird more like a woodcock, which frequented the area.
