Weingut Künstle Hochheimer Herrnberg Riesling 2018
Another German Riesling? No, is a VDP Erste Lage with a First Growth location. It is from the riper Rheingau, and by now, with three years' ageing, the Hochheimer Herrnberg Riesling noses vivid green, stone and citrus fruit(green apple and apple, lime, lemons, peach). The palate drummed differently on tropical Like Papaya, honey and lengthened by minerality note. Although it is entry-level with merely some complexities, it is a competent ESTE Lage that shows a typical, harmoniously integrated acidity. 76% of the Künstler vineyards are within the "first growth" locations, so this price is good value for money.
This little white wine tastes spicy and fruity and has a balanced and fine acidity. The Hochheimer Herrnberg Riesling dry is always very aromatic even when young but can be stored well thanks to its ageing potential, maybe for another three years. A high-quality Riesling from a good location is easy to store and worth having a bottle or two off at home. But can also be kept well thanks to its ageing potential. ABV is 12.5% high, RS is just 5 grams/litre, and acidity is 6.
