2006 chateau Le Doyene, Premieres Cotes de Bordeaux

Le Doyen 2006.jpg

RP90, WS88, DD90. Château Le Doyenné results from the mature parcels of vines. The wine is aged in oak barrels for 18 months(75% merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc). Planting density is 5 500 vines per hectare and average yield is low at 38 hectoliters, pointing to the wine’s strong ageing potential.

Dark ruby and tight rim-unyielding to the 8 year ageing. Through out our tasting, the wine changes from sweet mulberry fruit to dark currant and berry fruit, and stabilized at consistent aromas of black fruit and fine woody notes. Structure and density increased with time, with tobacco lead, Christmas fruit cake, and spice box tones. Makes nice drinking now. A true bargain.
