Everyday Bordeaux Wine Sauternes 2015 En Primeur(Part 5)

Earlier we wrote about our optimum with Margaux and Pomerol, and we are quite right on that. What we miss is that 2015 was a fabulous year also for Sauternes, which leading the way with the most uniform high-scores, cost performance and are overall price friendly. For example, we taste and affirm

  • Doisy-Vedrines and Coutet released very cheap prices per case

  • The iconic l'Extravagant de Doisy-Daene scoring a staggering 96-98 points!

  • Brilliant value from Sigalas-Rabaud, Rabaud-Promis and La Tour Blanche

  • No better appellation in 2015 for $-per-point value

Sauternes’ achievements in the 2015 EP, we believe, is much confirmed by the super quality and value of Sauternes 1er Grand Cru Classé CHATEAU SUDUIRAUT 2015, which is probably the highest scores on the average it has attained so far. With accollades and high level of scores like JS 97-98, NM 95-97, WS 93-96, WE 95-97, this Sauternes First Growth absolutely nailed it in 2015 producing a wine with incredible depth, complexity and freshness. Never too sweet or sticky, this year it is particularly light on its feet. Buy this one if you want an alternative to d’Yquem.

As rightly put by Neal Martin, 'The region produced a host of outstanding sweet wines with good botrytis levels, rich in sugar between, but more crucially, marked acidity and tension." Yes, we think so too.
