2016 EP Le Clos Manou, Medoc

This wine reminds me of its 2000 vintage: dense, powerful, round, quite some complexities with lots of dark fruit. Inky, this composition 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc give quite a round and complex wine though, with the Medoc style of minerality evident. Medium palate. Still close.

Le Clos Manou is located in the heart of the Médoc appellation, north-west of Bordeaux. Born in 1998. 2016 EP Clos de Manou is JS93!

Why this wine might interest you?

  1. Medoc with this density is rare.

  2. Production is still very small.

  3. Françoise and Stéphane Dief vinify their first cuvee of 600 bottles, it is now a recognized house, placing quality at the top of its preoccupations. This wine will fetch higher prices years down the road.

  4. The Clos Manou vineyards are located on three distinct terroirs: Deep, clayey, and limestone gravels. Each plot is managed individually so that the grape varieties can best reflect their terroir.
