2016 EP Chateau Dalem, Fronsac

Very deep ruby with violet hue. Tight rim. Dark, ripe fruit, dry flowers and fragrant. Not as backward and suppressed as earlier vintages. Used oak; some complexity. Superb value; high scores, such as WA93, JS93 and WS93.. Whether you like this style is another matter.

Antonio Galloni writes, ‘The 2016 Dalem is a plush, flamboyant wine. A rush of black cherry, plum, chocolate, menthol and licorice infuse this decidedly opulent, creamy Fronsac. One of the most extroverted wines of the vintage, the 2016 Dalem is also absolutely delicious. Tasted two times. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com’. It is also an AG92.
