2016 EP Blason d'Issan

eep ruby; tight rim. Nose like first wine, but when it comes to palate it does not have the structure and body. As a second wine, it has ripe blackcurrant and other black fruit, nutty and inky and drinks on and on. May be the ‘light being’ is a strength Rather than weakness. In terms of style, the current owner says, "I aim to make elegant wines, not monsters." True to the commune Cantenac where it comes from, this 2016 vintage is pure and elegant with refined tannins, and are highly drinkable.

JS gives a 94. But we prefer this tasting note from Parker et al.

Wine Advocate-Parker : The 2016 Blason d'Issan is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 60% Merlot matured in 35% new oak. It has a light, slightly earthy bouquet with blackberry and autumn leaf aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly hard tannin on the entry, quite crisp, but there is a touch of hardness on the finish that will need to be addressed during the élevage.
