Domaine DECELLE-VILLA Gervey Chambertin 2013

Bright deep ruby, with a narrow pink rim. Elegant blackberry fruit, cherries, raspberries, black truffle, licorice and fresh mint. On the palate, very clean fruited, textured with strong wood influence showing tones of cinnamon, black pepper, wood spice and vanilla. Vintage 2013 is rare because of low yields; it gives more structured with protracted taste, ripe fruit(destemming, whole berries, small crates to avoid fruit bruising), linear and vibrant acidities(cooler, close to Dijon), and is the more complex wines from the range. Very long finish. Classic Gervey Chambertin to keep with some potential.

ABV is 12.7%. Sugars fermented out, hence zero residual. Soils are complex, on Combe de Lavaux 300 metres above ground and is just 15 km south of city of Dijon; therefore this wine by nature of the terroir is not a primary Gervey Chambertin, thus more structure, complexities and sophistication, and hence the style. . Ageing 18 months in 20% new oak.
