Chevalier de Lascombes 2012, Second Wine

Opaque violet; with a medium rim. Suppressed nose of cassis, raspberry and plum aromas uncovered with the dispell of barnyard note in some minutes. After that, cedar and cigar box tones develop. On the palate, there are adequate dark fruit, cedary and chocolates flavours, with grippy tannins, acidity that holds onto the fruit and show some rigidity. The spicy finish outlasts the fruit, which is not bad at all for the class. Medium finish.

Slight oxygenation in the glass will serve well. Drinking window is relatively narrow and probably within one hour.

A famous second wine from Margaux. Still easy to drink, with its 45% Merlot fruit backup by 55% of Cabernet which forms its structure.

Wine Spectator writes, "This has lightly firm cocoa powder and cedar hints, with some plum sauce and black currant notes. Gives way to a flicker of iron on the slightly sinewy finish..."
