Duhart Milon Rothschild 2002, Pauillac
Deep ruby core, with a medium rim. Very elegant and refined on the nose- bright red-berried fruit, raspberry and wild strawberry- cedar-wood and graphite. Drinking well now, natural and just the right amount of austerity with black pepper and pencil lead. Fine tannins, feminine, supple, beautifully poised on the finish. Lovely. Of course, everyone know Duhart and still of excellent value. And 2002 is a understated vintage, hence the great value. Medium finish; lightish Alcohol.
Parker writes that this property, which has benefitted enormously from huge investments from the Rothschild family that owns Lafite, has turned out a dense purple-coloured Pauillac offering broad, expansive, supple and silky tannin as well as loads of Asian plum sauce, blackcurrants, and sweet cherries. Almost all wine from the various vintage is seductive, medium to full-bodied, and luscious. 2002 is drinking Fine and has been a successful effort from the Rothschilds should continue to drink well for at least another two decades.
