CHÂTEAU DU TAILLAN 2014 – Haut Medoc CRU BOURGEOIS

Deep ruby; tight, pink rim. Forward dark fruit nose. Pretty prominent on the nose. On the palate, firm and smooth, sweet tannins, round and dark fruited. Keeping up with the varietals characters(ripeness from majority 70% Merlot, liquorice tones from 20% Cabernet Franc and structure from 10% Cabernet Sauvignon), it is a stable Cru Bougeois of excellent price and value. With slight aeration(mainly for the 14.5% ABV), it is a quality, simple wine which gets very drinkable now.

2014 matures in French oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, where it develops into a well-balanced wine, perfect for ageing for some years.

Good vineyard practice forms the basis of the quality of this 2014. Vine maintenance, including pruning, lifting, de-budding and leaf removal are carried out throughout the year. Modernized fermentation, daily analysis and sampling of the different wines, during the harvest.

Comments are good and consistent, for example, from Wine Enthusiat 91 and RP91.

WE 91

Owned by the Cruse family, part of the old Bordeaux elite, the estate is in the southern Médoc. The wine, with its firm character and rounded fruit, has weight and considerable richness. It will develop into a plush full-bodied wine. Drink from 2020.
