Surprising deep ruby still. Very rich, dark, ripe and bold with lots of spicy dark fruits. Medium bodied, fine tannins, sweetish finish, 14.5% ABV. Intense with McLaren Vale stylistics with some elegance.
Well commented with stable quality, this wine is classified Very good/excellent 90/100 points, and a Smart Buys designation from the Wine Spectator, which writes 'Dark and juicy, brimming with black cherry, blackberry and spice flavours, echoing with white pepper, supple but lively with acidity. Has class and lots of potential." Awarding it 90 points, Robert Parker says the Two Hands 2002 Shiraz Angel’s Share (100% Shiraz from McLaren Vale) exhibits a saturated ruby/purple colour as well as tight to the best aromas of black fruits, forest floor, flowers, and tar. Medium to full-bodied, moderately tannic, and closed, with a touch of austerity, it is a well-made, long Shiraz .... '
The winemakers writes that Angels Share refers to the small amount of wine that evaporates from oak barrels while maturing. Medieval winemakers assumed that angels watched over the wines and that they took their share.
