Château Labégorce Margaux 2014, CBS
Deep ruby. Nose of violet, ripe red cherry hinting blackcurrant and blackberry, followed by plum, mocha, spice, liquorice and sweet French oak. Full spectrumed on the nose, Labegorce 2014 is elegant with tannin balanced out by a hint of fruit sweetness. There is some green earthiness on the palate which evolves into elements of raspberry, cherry in its medium finish. Agreeing that Labegorce is true Margaux in style, Bernard Ginestet argues that the owner was in time to apply for the 1855 Classification, Chateau Labegorce would have been a Cru. In the commune of Margaux, Chateau Labegorce is close to Chateau Margaux. we have been tasting the Labegorce since the vintage1992 to the current 2014. The ageing potential as a CBS has always been underestimated. Composition is 58% Merlot, 40% Cabernet and 2% Petit Verdot. One year in mostly new barrel.

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The 2014 Labégorce is one those 'dark horses' of the vintage, a wine that has a prosperous future. It has a lovely, very pure and sensual bouquet with lifted redcurrant and wild strawberry scents that evoke the essence of Margaux. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, well -udged acidity, good concentration with a satisfying raspberry preserve-infused finish that demonstrates superb persistence. I adored this Labégorce from barrel and now in bottle it does nothing to disprove my initial enthusiasm. Top Margaux ahoy! (NM) (3/2017)
92 points Wine Enthusiast This is a firm wine, dominated by tannins and dark layers of wood. The black-currant fruit is there to burst out as the wine matures over the next few years. The estate is close to the river, on a dense gravel rise, near Château Margaux. (RV) (2/2017)
